Here at Wooden Blinds Direct, we think measuring for your new blind should be as easy as 1,2,3. This is why we have created a simple guide for you to follow.
To help you with your measurements you will need a metal tape measure.
All your measurements need to be in centimetres and also to the nearest 0.1cm.
Recess Measurement
Select this option when you would like your blind to fit within the window recess.
Recess Width
Take 3 measurements for the width of the window recess as shown in the picture.
Take the smallest of these measurements. This is your recess width.
We will make the necessary deductions for the mechanisms, brackets and clearance to ensure the blind operates within the window recess.
Note: For recess measurements we will deduct 5mm from each side for the width.
Recess Drop
Take 3 measurements for the drop of the window recess as shown in the picture.
Take the smallest of these measurements. This is your recess drop.
You do not need to deduct anything from the drop measurement.
The drop includes any pelmets or valances at the top of the blind.
Exact Blind Measurement
Select this option when you would like your blind to fit outside the window recess.
Exact Blind Width (also known as pin width or finished blind width)
Just measure the exact area you would like the blind to cover, as shown in the picture.
Your blind will be made to the exact size you specify.
Exact sizes don't include the fitting brackets. These add 2mm to either side of your blind.
Exact Blind Drop
The drop includes any pelmets or valances at the top of the blind.
